I’d also thought about the hotspot option but decided against it. Most smartphones don’t have awesome battery life as it currently stands. Using it as a hotspot can significantly decrease your battery life. As a Sprint Nexus S 4G owner, I’ve seen my battery continue to discharge while charging (running turn-by-turn navigation and music with the screen turned off). If you’re not worried about your phone dying occasionally on you, then no worries. If it’s your only means of communication for talk and the internet, it may be worth considering having a dedicated mobile broadband device.
